We've heard so much from our clients and customers about an offer by the Big Box Home
Centers that seems too good to be true. How is it possible that they can afford to offer
professional installation of carpet in any size home for just $39.00?
One of our account managers did a little hands on research and what he found out (reported
below) might interest you and offer some explanation to your customers about how they do it!.
His room size was 15'x 19'
1) He had to get the areas measured for an estimate, cost $35.00 (credited with purchase)
2) He needed new tack strip, cost $2.00 per lineal foot
3) He needed to have furniture removed and replaced, cost $50.00
4) He needed to have his old carpet disposed of, cost $50.00
5) To receive the $39 Installation, he was required to also buy the pad (6.5 lb @ $7.92 s/yd.)
Total Sq. Yardage of job = 32 sq. yds.
Padding 32 sq. yds. @ $7.92 = $ 253.44
Tack strip cost = $ 136.00
Furniture moving = $ 50.00
Disposal = $ 50.00
Installation fee = $ 39.00
Total Installation cost = $ 528.44
Per Sq. Yd. Cost= $16.51 per sq. yd.
